Campbell Barnes Counselling & Consulting
I hold a Master's of Science in Health Promotion and Socio-Behavioral Sciences from the University of Alberta and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Calgary. I have been working in the field of mental health and addictions since 2004 and have had the opportunity to experience a number of different approaches and capacities within the field, including counseling, community development, harm-reduction, and program development and evaluation.
I work with individuals with a range of addictive behaviors, concurrent disorders, and other behavioral and emotional concerns such as low self-esteem, insecure attachment styles, employment issues, relationship and family of origin issues, trauma and grief and loss.
Informed by a bio-psycho-social-spiritual approach to healing and an eclectic theoretical orientation, I focus on the underlying causes of self-defeating and self-destructive thoughts and behaviors.
Being a therapist is truly humbling. I am honored everyday by those that are willing to share the darkest and brightest parts of themselves with me. I know counselling can feel scary, and sometimes it asks us to move through emotions, thoughts, and memories we have worked long and hard to avoid.
Counselling can provide a safe place to begin your journey through the pain and into the life that you were intended. There is no right or wrong way to begin...you start with one step...ask
